Thayer Academy Exterior Lighting Installation
Project
McDonald Electricals’ Service Division was selected to install new exterior lighting at Thayer Academy’s Braintree campus, enhancing both safety and aesthetics. The project included the installation of 14 bollard lights along two key walkways and four color-changing spotlights to illuminate the iconic clock tower.
With no general contractor or design team involved, McDonald Electrical took full ownership of the project, managing all aspects from trenching and concrete work to final electrical connections. The team of electricians delivered a seamless installation that aligned with the Academy’s vision for a more vibrant and welcoming campus environment.
Special Challenges
Thayer Academy sourced its lighting directly from Northeast Electric, who recommended McDonald Electrical as a trusted contractor. During the initial walkthrough, the Academy expressed dissatisfaction with their previous electrician, presenting an opportunity to build a new relationship based on quality and reliability.
Acting as the general contractor, McDonald Electrical went beyond traditional electrical work— coordinating excavation, concrete mixing, and installation logistics. The team adapted quickly to site conditions and delivered a high-quality result that exceeded expectations, marking the beginning of what promises to be a long-term partnership
