Project

McDonald Electrical modernized and standardized the wireless network infrastructure across eight interconnected buildings at Franciscan Hospital in Brighton, MA—an active healthcare environment serving Boston Children’s Hospital.

This project included installing new fiber optic cabling and updating network wiring to support faster, more reliable connections.

Scope included:

  • Fiber Optic Backbone: Installed air-blown singlemode fiber cabling to handle high-speed network traffic across all facilities.
  • Horizontal Cabling Upgrade: Replaced legacy copper with Cat6A cabling to enable 10Gbps connectivity for clinical and administrative spaces.
  • Wireless Deployment: Installed enterprise-grade wireless access points for optimized coverage in patient care areas, offices, and support spaces.
  • Patch Panel Cleanup: Reorganized, labeled, and standardized patch panels to meet Boston Children’s Hospital structured cabling requirements, removing obsolete connections and improving maintainability.
