Project

Our team successfully delivered a full electrical infrastructure installation for Harvard University’s new Greenway– a vibrant outdoor space designed by SCAPE Landscape Architecture and built by Consigli Construction.

This project focused on powering and lighting the Greenway to support community use, events, and future technology integration.

The scope included:

  • Feeder & Distribution Systems: Installed feeder and distribution equipment to a new electric room dedicated to Greenway power.
  • Lighting & Power Circuits: Ran conduit and wiring throughout the Greenway for lighting and general power.
  • Future-Proofing: Installed empty conduits for future security cameras, 5G, and wireless access points.
  • Event Power: Installed 200-amp and 400-amp switches and power pedestals for food trucks and event connections.
  • Convenience Power: Added pedestals with general outlets and USB charging ports for public use.
  • Lighting Fixtures: Installed light poles and fixtures to create a safe, well-lit environment.

Special Challenges

The project required precise coordination with multiple trades for trenching and conduit installation, as well as careful sequencing to place power pedestals and light poles in shared work zones. McDonald Electrical’s team of four electricians successfully navigated these challenges to deliver a fully powered and illuminated Greenway on schedule.
