Within the United States, not many places of worship have the history and significance of the Cathedral of the Holy Cross. As the largest Roman Catholic Church in New England, keeping that history alive while renovating the cathedral was no easy feat. Bringing all the major power and safety systems into the 21st century in an unnoticeable and seamless way was the goal of the NECA/IBEW Powering America Team of McDonald Electrical Corp. and IBEW Local 103 craftsmen and women. Much like other historic buildings, churches too were built before modern electrical systems. Lighting was a necessity back then, as opposed to an experience. Now, not only does the breathtaking lighting stand out but the beautiful architecture is on full display as well.
