McDonald Electrical Corporation is proud to celebrate the reopening of Boston Medical Center’s newly re-designed Menino lobby, alongside our project and trade partners.   BMC’s Campus Redesign 2.0 project represents a major step forward in improving the patient experience, enhancing accessibility, and supporting BMC’s mission of delivering exceptional care to the Boston community.

The overall project included:
• 70 new inpatient beds and five new operating rooms
• Expanded outpatient clinics
• A new Clinical Research Unit focused on clinical innovation
• A modernized Menino lobby, expanded cafeteria seating, improved patient drop-off & valet areas, and reconfigured accessible parking

As part of this transformative phase, McDonald Electrical played a key role in upgrading essential building systems and supporting the modernization of this highly trafficked public space. Our team’s work included:

  • Relocation and construction of the Fire Command Center to support improved campus safety and operational efficiency
  • Installation of a new, upgraded fire alarm system, enhancing life safety infrastructure across the facility
  • Electrical work throughout the redesigned Menino lobby, supporting improved lighting, accessibility, and overall functionality
