As a co-founder of McDonald Electrical Corporation, Thomas Cooney brings more than 40 years of experience in the electrical industry. Early in his career, Tom worked as a journeyman electrician, foreman, and project general foreman on projects throughout Greater Boston, gaining a deep understanding of the trade from the ground up.
His comprehensive knowledge of the electrical contracting business spans electrical and security system installations, renovations, repairs, and maintenance. Tom is known for upholding the highest industry standards—ensuring every project, regardless of size or scope, is executed with professionalism, safety, and integrity.
In addition to overseeing field operations and workforce development, Tom leads the company’s recruitment initiatives, focusing on cultivating the next generation of skilled electricians. He works closely with Building Pathways, the JATC, NECA, IBEW Local 103, and several Greater Boston vocational schools to attract talented and diverse individuals to the electrical construction industry.
