Scope :McDonald Electrical provided ground-up electrical construction and electrical fit-out of new,17-story residential high-rise with 259 apartments; 4-story and 2-story connected low rises that house amenity space; future tenant space; and two parking garages. The project entailed installation of the facility’s new electrical 4000 amp electrical distribution system, including two (2) 4000 amp/480 volt bus duct risers to feed the building’s residential units. The scope also included installation of a new fire alarm system, bi-directional amplifier (BDA), smoke control, lighting, general duty power, tel/data, and security system. Low-voltage installations – tel/data and security – were provided by MEC Systems.
Challenges :Demolition of an existing 9-story building; design-assist with the new ground-up 17-story residential high rise. McDonald’s Electrical’s Value Engineering (VE) scope included redesign of electrical distribution equipment, fire alarm risers, and lighting, to reduce owner costs.
